Six Gaelscoil gathered this morning in damp conditions for the Cross-Country finale to compete over 4 races. The support was strong from parents and classes.
Proceedings began with the Junior Girls racing 400m. With a fast pace up the front from Lios na n-Óg, Amy, Lilliane,Rebecca, Sadbh and Rós secured 3rd place.
We moved with Junior boys-500m and once again Jamie,Josh, Conall, Benjamin and Darragh raced strongly to win the bronze.
The senior girls’ race was next and we knew we had a strong team beforehand. Sadbh and Ailbhe were always in contention over the 600m lap and it was Ailbhe who won the race with Sadbh right behind in 2nd. Róisín, Georgia and Éle followed soon after to win team silver. Great work!
The final race was for the senior boys-800m. With no runners from Rang 6 we were under pressure. Séamus, Páidí, Iwan, Fiachra and Harry ran well and only narrowly missed out on team bronze.
This ends our cross country season for this year. Well done to all children. We set out to give all children a chance to race and that target was achieved and we move on now to next season….
